When working with BoomPop, you may see events that are either BoomPop planned or client planned.
You don’t need to take any action based on this distinction—it’s mainly for your understanding. The easiest way to tell the difference is messaging availability:
If messaging is available in the platform, the event is client planned.
If messaging is not available and only a sourcing contact is shared, the event is BoomPop planned.
Understanding this distinction helps you know what to expect in terms of communication and responsibilities, even though the workflow milestones and timelines remain the same for both event types.
BoomPop Planned Events
BoomPop planned events are managed entirely by BoomPop’s Event Studio. You’ll often see communications coming from:
A Sourcing Manager or Sourcing Operations Specialist
Occasionally, an Event Planner, especially for smaller events
What you can expect
BoomPop manages the event from start to finish. The client is primarily involved for approvals and decisions.
All communication happens via email. The sourcing manager’s contact info is available in the platform, but other team members may reach out as needed.
BoomPop acts as the merchant of record, signing and paying hotels on the client’s behalf.
Client Planned Events
Client planned events are managed directly by the client using BoomPop’s platform. These clients often have experience planning events, such as executive assistants, HR professionals, field marketers, or in-house event planners.
What you can expect
Clients manage sourcing hotels and vendors and plan event details themselves within the platform.
Messaging is available in-platform, so you can see questions and updates happening directly between the client and vendors.
This is also the easiest way to tell whether an event is BoomPop planned or client planned.
BoomPop acts as the agency of record. We facilitate the process, but the client handles contracts and payments.
Workflow milestones in Partner Hub are the same as BoomPop planned events. The difference is where communication happens and who is responsible for planning tasks.
Note: You’ll notice that timelines are the same across both event types. Milestones like RFP submission, proposals, and approvals happen in Partner Hub on the same schedule.
The main difference is where communication happens and who is responsible for certain tasks.
